Description
The Political Constitution of the United Mexican States of 1917 is the fundamental law established to legally govern the country. It sets the limits and defines the relationships between the powers of the federation — legislative, executive and judicial — among the three distinct levels of government — federal, state and municipal — and among all citizens.
In total, the constitutional text has nine titles containing 136 articles and 19 transitory provisions. It follows the classic guidelines of political doctrine, with a dogmatic part covering the first 39 articles that sets rights and obligations, and an organic part in the remaining 98 articles that defines the organization of the public powers.
